André Pink – Director. Andre got a degree in theatre directing at the Universidade de São Paulo. He has been working as a professional director in Brazil since 1990 and his work was prized in Brazilian festivals. He relocated to London in 1996 as a recipient of a Brazilian grant by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture that allowed him to train with Phillipe Gaulier amongst others. Andre co-founded the Anglo-Brazilian theatre company DENDE COLLECTIVE in 1999. Andre has directed all its plays to date. In 2001 a Japanese grant allowed him to study Noh and Kyogen in Tokyo. He has been teaching and directing at Mountview Academy of Dramatic Arts, Queen Mary and Westfield College, the Method Studio, Saint Martin’s School of Design, School of Science of Acting, and courses to young people all over the UK and Brazil. He is also a mask-maker and a mask teacher.
Mark O'Thomas – Writer. Is a British playwright, screenwriter and translator. His first play was commissioned and produced by Soho Theatre Company and opened its new home in Dean Street, W1. This was followed by Salvador at the Man in the Moon, which was Critics' Choice in Time Out, Viva Maria! with Dende Collective, The Piranha Lounge and Down Dog, Edinburgh Festival 2003. He is currently script advisor to the Royal Court International Department and is researching the relationship between translation theory, adaptation and the devising process.
Montserrat Gili – Carmen, Lamb, Bear. Trained in Spain and at Êcole Philippe Gaulier in London. Theatre Credits include Flat One (CPT), Angel High (TIE Tour), XXX (La Fura dels Baus @ Riverside), Widdershins (King’s Head), The Bald Prima Donna (Young Vic), The Suspicious Truth (Garage Theatre), Girls With Guns (Oval House), Shakespeare for Breakfast and The Tin Soldier (C Venue, Edinburgh Festival), Dona Rosita the Spinster, and Mother Tongue (Oval House). She has also directed Foolhardy, I Am Not A Toy and La Patilla me pierde. TV credits include Make Spanish Your Business for the BBC and the feature film The Empty Mirror. Works as a voice-over artist and teaches physical theatre at Mountview Theatre School. Co-founder of Dende collective, she was assistant director in Two Lost Souls On A Dirty Night and Viva Maria! and also appeared in The Piranha Lounge and Dona Flor And Her Two Husbands (Oval House & Lyric Hammersmith).
John Sims – Company Technical Manager, has worked as a lighting designer and production manager in theatre, television and live events for over 15 years. He has a degree in Drama and Theatre Studies and now lectures in design and production management. He has just launched Spacepatrol.co.uk a lighting design and project management company for specialist and unusual events.
Daniel J Hale – Touring manager is completing a BA in Drama & Media Arts at St Marys University, Twickenham, where he’s undertaken a large technical role working on both staff and student productions/exams. He has worked previously with Patrice Niambana and Gri Gri Zero as Technical and stage manager, including designing and operating the lighting design, in their production of Makbet at the Barbican Theatre Plymouth 2005. Also worked as sound and lighting technician on Punchdrunks FirebirdBall, Vauxhall 2005.
William El-Gardi – Damian, Dabir, Diana Ross. Trained at the Mountview Academy after Liverpool University (English Literature & Philosophy). His theatre credits include, a tour with Welsh company, Theatre Ibyd with Flowers From Tunisia, Theatre Clwyd, and The Sherman, Cardiff. Other credits include Laters-The South London Passion Plays by Ricki Beadle-Blair (The Tristan Bates Theatre), Release The Beat-The Musical (The Arcola), a regional tour with The Oxford Theatre Touring Co on Breaking News and Funky Stuff at the Pepper Soup Cabaret (Kingshead Theatre). TV and Film credits include, Dirty War (BBC & HBO Films), Spooks (series 3, BBC), and Days that Shook the World (BBC). Also Channel 4's The Sketch Show, Five's Murder Prevention, and feature film Brothers with Danish Dogma director Suzanne Beir, currently showing at the Curzon cinema Soho.
Patrizia Paolini - Isabella. As a solo artist, Patrizia writes and performs her own material. She trained as an actor in Italy (Circo a Vapore, Rome 1995) and moved to London, where she has since been studying and working in the theatre field, focusing in comedy and clowning. She has studied with Philippe Gaullier and performed and toured with Ridiculusmus; CPT; and Dende Collective. As a solo performer: Where are you from? which toured Northern Ireland, New York, London; Long Way To Go a comedy act which performed in BAC and Downstairs at The King’s Head; a series of Scratch performances in BAC and the Arcola; and What Else? her second one woman show, had a successful run in London.
James Bellorini – Terry Walker, Steve. James studied at Dartington College of Arts, followed by a year performing and directing with a French street-theatre company. His acting work includes: Don Juan (Lyric, Hammersmith); Dona Flor & Her Two Husbands (Lyric Hammersmith Studio); Mandragora, King of India (Tara Arts UK Tour); 147 (Oval House); Under The Earth, Metamorphosis, and House of Desires (all at the BAC); On Sundays (Union Theatre); East (The Vaudeville Theatre); The Chimes (Drill Hall); Nirvana (Riverside Studios); Epitaph for the Whales, The Puppetmaster, and A Box of Bananas (all for The Gate Theatre); L'arte della Commedia (The Old Vic); The Merchant of Venice and A Christmas Carol (Palace Theatre, Westcliff); Woyzeck (UK National Tour); Red Noses (Oxford Playhouse); The Bald Prima Donna (Young Vic); Le Pub (National Theatre); Tartuffe (Man In The Moon); and A Film For Radio (BBC Radio 4).
Michael Claff – Angelo Walker. Trained at Rose Bruford College. Most recent performance was as the drug-addict Aiden, in the London premier of Paul Birtill's Squalor. Other theatre includes Autolycus in The Winters Tale, Jay in Bruises by Judy Upton and Robin in Terminal at the Kings Head Theatre. Work on screen includes Seth in the TV pilot Is This It?, and as the schizophrenic David in the short film Acid Rain by Maddog Productions.
Polly Lister – Sharon, Marjorie. Trained at Manchester Metropolitan University and has toured with The E.S.C, Pop-Up, and Tour-de-Force. Last year she played Marilyn Monroe in a new musical, was in Transmissions 2004 at The Birmingham Rep., was Juliet in Romeo and Juliet for all time with Heart Productions, was in Dende Collective’s Dona Flor and her two husbands at the Lyric Hammersmith, was in Keswick’s Theatre by the lake’s Cinderella and was last seen at Pershore’s no. 8. Previous companies include Manchester Library, Tewkesbury’s Roses, Northampton Theatre Royal, Worcester’s Swan, The Gate, The Contact, Ken Campbell and National Youth Theatre. Polly has worked many times for Radio 4, was a guest lead in Doctors for the BBC and is the lead in a Feature called R.T.F.M.
Richard Godin – Lighting designer. Richard trained at Central School of Speech and Drama. His recent lighting credits are The Beautiful Game (Dance Touring UK), The Balcony & The Odyssey (Embassy Theatre), On The Air (Circus Space), Stormforce (Edinburgh Festival), Celtic Dreams & Cabaret (CCCS), MAD (Towngate Theatre). Credits as Assistant Designer include, Four Nights in Knaresborough (Riverside Studios), Tobias & The Angel (ETO UK tour), Orientations (Phoenix, Leicester), Piranha Lounge (The Bull).
Hiroe Komai – Set designer and props. Hiroe is an artist, born in Kyoto. She gained a BA in Fine Art at Camberwell College of Arts before an MA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths College. She has been making architectural sculpture via the use of cardboard. Hiroe also designed for the previous version of OneFourSeven at Oval House.
Pedro de Senna – Set designer. Pedro gained a degree in Product and Graphic Design (Esdi, Rio de Janeiro) then an MA in Theatre: text and production (UEA, Norwich). He has worked as an actor in Brazil and the UK and currently teaches product design at A level and is a visiting lecturer in drama at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College.
Nina Perry – Sound designer. Nina is a Composer/Sound Designer for film, broadcasting and the performing arts. Having trained at Middlesex University, and gained an MA (Composing for Film & TV) at Kingston University. In 2002 she was BBC Radio Drama Composer-in-Residence. Nina’s most recent work for radio was An ABC of the night, one third of the Thinking Earth Trilogy. Other BBC credits include The Maharajah’s Daughters by Clive Bradley, Hard Times by Charles Dickens, The Goalkeepers Boo Boo by Peter Tinniswood, Lying Undiscovered by Richard Monks. Independent film credits include: All you Can Eat by Kate Anderson, and Chances by Yeun Fong. In 2003 Nina was commissioned by BBC Radio 3 to produce a soundscape feature for their adventures in sound series Between the Ears.
Rachana Jadhav – Costume designer. After graduating as an Architect from Edinburgh College of Art, Rachana Jadhav completed an MA in Scenography at Central Saint Martins in 2002. Since then she has designed set and costume for Miss Julie and The Maids with Naach Theatre Co.; Dancing within Walls and Curry Tales with RASA Productions; Slam Dunk with Nitro Theatre Co. (Feb 2004); The Greatest Drummer in the World with Ensemble; Trashed with Theatre Centre and Mortal Ladies Possessed with Linda Marlow. Rachana exhibits as an installation artist and after co-founding Naach Theatre Co. in 2003 with director Nadia Fall, is currently working on new devised work for 2006.
