Previous credits include FOOD FOR THOUGHT Soho Theatre, SALVADOR Man in the Moon, Viva Maria! Oval House, THE PIRANHA LOUNGE Lyric Hammersmith, SEVEN LIVES OF SANTO Royal Court (translator), DOWN DOG Underbelly, Edinburgh Festival, ALMOST NOTHING & AT THE TABLE Royal Court (translator), ONEFOURSEVEN national tour, DONA FLOR AND HER TWO HUSBANDS Lyric Hammersmith.  He is currently under commission from the Royal Court for a new translation and his play about the life of the jazz trumpeter Chet Baker premiers at the London Jazz Festival in November.

 

Gui Tavares - Musical Director and Musician

Gui was key in the musical research and development of Agreste (Drylands). A music graduate from University of Campinas, São Paulo, his work combines classical musical training with a deep love and knowledge of Brazilian popular music. Gui now performs, creates and records music in London.

 

João André Rocha - Movement Director

Mixes a rich understanding of Brazilian Popular Dances and physical theatre actor's training techniques. He is also investigating how popular celebrations and festivals allow us to reflect upon social integration and regulation, creativity and interaction among groups. Currently he is a visiting lecturer at Queen Mary University of London.

 

Benjamin Henson - Assistant Director

Benjamin graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Theatre Directing from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. His recent productions include Sam and the Fortune Teller and Roald Dahl's The Witches at the Edinburgh Festival and a Harold Pinter double-bill at the Baron's Court.

 

Michale Fowkes - Set and Costume Designer

A designer, maker and puppetry specialist, he trained at Wimbledon School of Art. He has worked on shows at the Little Angel Theatre, including Stuff and Nonsense (shadow show), Jabberwocky, Pinocchio, The Mouse Queen, Karagoz and A Little Foxes Tale and created puppets for The Ghost Downstairs and Not now Bernard (New Perspectives Theatre) and Wuthering Heights (Love and Madness). Recent commissions include work with Theatre-rites. Television work includes characters for BBC 4, UK TV Gold and ‘The Mighty Boosh’.

 

George Ogilvie - Lighting Designer

For Dende Collective, George designed DONA FLOR AND HER TWO HUSBANDS and the AGRESTE R&D in 2005. George is Lyric Studio Hammersmith technical manager, where for the last ten years has overseen virtually every performance in the Studio. He has designed for Lyric’s community and education projects, Allegresse's Pepper Soup, Theatre Soleil's Tropical Tree and many more.

 

Chris Hill - Production Manager

Chris trained in Stage Management at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He has worked on a range of projects including ‘Live Like Pigs’ (Royal Court) ‘Phaedra’ (Donmar Warehouse) ‘Lucky Nurse’ (Finborough) ‘Big Love’ ‘The Chairs’ ‘Ghosts’ (Gate Theatre) The Ladies Cage (Finborough).

 

Tereza Araujo - Performer

Studied acting at the Federal University of Bahia. She is a member of the London-based theatre company StoneCrabs and was in their productions of: A Domestic Story of Violence, Vitriol and Victory, Yukio Mishima’s Sotoba Komachi & The Damask Drum, Arlechinno - A Servant of Two Masters; Josephine, The Singer and Our Lady of The Drownedand most recently she featured in  The Faces a short film by Jog Wagner/Karine Chevalier.

 

Rrenford Fagan - Performer

A Martial artist progressing into the performing arts, training as an actor, then at film school p/t. After coaching from his movement tutor, trained further at Brooking and Ballet Rambert. Credits include; CBBC 'Brum', 'Dalziel and Pasco', LCB, 'Swan Lake', BRB 'Choreolab, 'Film 'Wondrous Oblivion', 'Hidden Play Dead', Boots commercial, GCDC, 'The Road home', NPV, 'Late Night Movie', Theatre-rites 'The Thought That Counts', Ra Ra Zoo, 'Swan'.  

 

Chand Martinez - Performer

Chand trained at RADA. He has worked developing and performing shows with Theatre Centre; The Royal Court; Big Picture Company, Cornish Theatre Collectiveand Tara Arts. He has alsocollaboratedand performed puppet based shows with Kazzum and the Little Angel Marionette Theatre.

 

Dave Yowel - Performer

Born in Kenya in the 1950s, where he grew up with many cultural influences. Some of the groups and artists he has worked with include: Transglobal Underground, Hugh Masekela, Mose Fan Fan, Abdul TeeJay, Captain Yaba, Atongo Zimba and Moreno Veloso. He has also composed music for film and television productions such as Sex in the City, The In-laws, Discovery Channel , among many others.
