The Luna Club

A devised show with young people based on short stories

West London’s most talented young performers join forces with Dende Collective to present the debut season of the Lyric Young Company. Witness the future of UK theatre in action!

Dende Collective and 20 young people aged 14 – 16 created the inaugural show of the LYC performed at its Studio Theatre. Drawing on Dende’s experience with Contact Theatre’s CYAC we revisited the world of the novel Stories of Eva Luna by the Chilean writer Isabel Allende. During five weeks of work we offered the young people a fully professional theatre experience where, supported by all the departments at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre we devised a show loosely based on the world of Allende’s stories.

The audience was invited into a Latin American tavern where they shared the space with the characters, while little by little their stories unfolded surrounding the audience with their passions and emotions.
